Watch It - An Eagle Birth :)

I have discovered that there is a live web cam watching an Eagle who has laid 3 eggs. They are estimated to hatch on 4/1.  If you have a few minutes, you should watch with your scout.
http://www.raptorresource.org/   click on bird cams, and the live stream should begin.

What a wonderful thing technology is!

Compassion

Do you have it?  Do you know what it is?  At the March pack meeting we did a few exercises that helped us learn about some disabilities that people have and we talked about having compassion for others.  We also had some fun learning about compassion!  In this exercise the scouts were blindfolded and had to remove their left shoe and toss it in the middle, then try to find it .  One scout thought he could find his shoe by smelling all of them :)

Thank you for Helping!!

A big thank you to everyone who helped with Scouting for Food.  Doesn't matter if you collected food, stuffed bags in the shopper, donated, or helped organize the event!  We collected more food than we did in 2010!  The total pounds of food collected in Albert Lea was 5489!  Great Job!!

Scouting for Food Plans

Scouting for Food is Saturday March 26th.  We will meet at 1st Presbyterian Church at 9:00 for a short meeting.  We will get our maps and go out as a group and collect food.  We have the option of joining the boy scouts from Troop 7 for a pizza party afterward.  The cost is approx $5 per person and is optional.

The Salvation Army in Albert Lea estimates 15-20 families visit their food shelf every day and they give out 1,500 pounds of food a day.  They ask that you do not donate any outdated items.  Some suggested items were ramen noodles, peanut butter, jelly, canned soup, canned fruits, mac & cheese, tuna, cereal.  I noticed that our shopper did not include a bag.  If you did not receive one, please place your items in any plastic bag on your front step by 8:30 am on Saturday.  Thanks for your help!  Let's stock up those food shelves :)

Pinewood Derby

A note on the pinewood derby!

We would like to say that we were all winners at the Pinewood Derby.  Parents have more respect and pride for their son whether he is a humble winner or a graceful loser. The boys gained a better knowledge of competition; how to win, how to lose, and how to behappy for his friend who took home the trophy he himself wanted so badly. The leaders feel proud knowing each of their boys had done their best. Building the car helped bring son and parents together and cheering for our den members helped bring the den closer together. Yes, there are only winners in Pack 7. Thank you all for helping to make the pack go and the Cub Scouts grow.  Congratulations to all us winners!!

Salvation Army Bell Ringers

A big thank you to all scouting families who rang bells for the Salvation Army. Thank you for sharing and helping those in need!

December Pack Meeting

In December our pack meeting was a chance for us to give back to our community. We choose to sing Christmas carols to the residents at Knutson Place Apartments and St. John's Lutheran Home. The scouts and their siblings sang "until their toes hurt" as one scout told me! When they were finished singing they shared a treat of candy cane reindeer to all the residents. After singing so well, we celebrated the holiday with a party at Pizza Ranch! Yummy!

Halloween Party

In October we had a Halloween party for our Pack meeting. Our entertainment was MegaForce Sound. Randy play lots of fun music for all of our scouts and families to dance to! There was lots of good food as well as great games organized by each den! Good Work Pack 7!

The RadZoo

This fall the scouts from Pack 7 were able to visit the RADZoo in Owatonna. It was a fun day for all. The highlight was seeing the snake & crocodile eat the chickens!
